MI are a valuable resource for family historians, expecially when used in conjunction with burial records.

Burial Records will typically only show:
- name
- date of burial
- residence at time of death
- age

 MI will typically show:
- date of death
- other members of the family in the same grave including relationship, e.g. wife of
- occasionally the date of birth
